A few weeks ago VersionOne had the opportunity to exhibit at the LeanKanban North America event at the beautiful JW Marriott hotel in downtown Chicago.
The ideal, early spring Chicago weather made it VERY difficult to stay indoors, but those who did were rewarded with a highly educational and informative three days.
We had numerous opportunities to demonstrate how the VersionOne agile project management tool can succeed in a variety of methodologies:
- Scrum
- Kanban
- Scrumban
- Lean
- Anything and everything in between
It was remarkable to speak with customers and prospects about the successes they’ve had to date, as well as the challenges that restrict the road ahead.

John Krewson and I enjoyed handing out copies of our popular Agile Checklist, Kanban for Agile Teams white paper. We also received some exceptionally positive feedback on our recently completed 7th Annual Dev Survey. If you haven’t seen the results, it’s not too late.
Brian Smith from Follett, a VersionOne customer, loved learning about TeamRoom, a dedicated team-based environment that helps agile developers focus on getting their jobs done.
Mark Nilsen, a happy VersionOne customer, came all the way from South Africa to learn during the sessions and interact with the vendors.
When I wasn’t engaging with people at our booth, I had the chance to hear a couple of extremely influential, knowledgeable experts from the agile community.
Mary Poppendieck delivered, “The Lean Mindset: The Far Side of Paradox.” This talk got everyone in the room thinking and talking. What is the Lean Mindset? Why isn’t my company taking advantage of its benefits? How can I use this mindset to compete more effectively?”
The Wednesday sessions took off like a rocket when Doug Hubbard shared his presentation, “How to Measure Anything.” Doug made a very credible case for what’s wrong with current methods of estimating and decision making. The best practices for making better decisions amidst uncertainty were excellent.
